Bright, silver object travelling across the night sky.

I was attending a friend’s 60th birthday at a pub in Stanley, Co. Durham, and was standing outside in the smoking area having a conversation with two friends. A few minutes before the sighting we heard what sounded like an airplane engine. we looked up to see where it was, but could see nothing. This went on for a couple of minutes before we realised the sound was being generated by an electrical device in an adjacent building. A couple of minutes later we saw an airliner pass overhead, heading toward Newcastle International Airport. Shortly after this I caught sight of a silvery light heading towards us through the thin, broken cloud cover. At first I thought it was another aircraft with its landing beams facing directly at us. As it approached, I noted that it was making no sound whatsoever and that there were no navigation lights attached to it. One of my friends asked what it could possibly be. As I watched it struck me how much it resembled the ISS (International Space Station.) It had no internal light source but seemed to be reflecting light from its surface, just as the ISS does, and like the ISS it was travelling in a West to East trajectory at about the same speed. We lost sight of it behind the roof of the pub after approximately 30 seconds. At the time I concluded that it must have been the space station. However, on checking online, some days later I learned the ISS was not visible to the UK on that particular date. I recently rembered how similar this sighting was to one I commented on (UFO REPORT 102703)on this site.
