Bright Light hovering in Eastern sky for over 4 hours, moving, flashing lights and dancing
A meteor shower was taking place during the second week of August 2012, so my friend and I were star gazing in western Ridgefield on a very secluded farm. It is very dark and you have a great view of the whole area east of the Columbia River from this property. We spent the previous 3 nights out doing the same thing. We went inside to grab a drink around 12:00am, and we came back outside on the back deck around 1:00am. Above the barn where we had been staring for more than 2 hours, there was a large bright orb hovering where nothing had been before. Astonished, we stared at this light comparing it to all the other stars in the sky, the airplanes coming from PDX to our south, and this was nothing like anything else in the sky. We sat and watched the light go up and down, left and right, floating and moving, and then it started getting higher up in the atmosphere. It was dead silent at the farm, and over the night air you could hear the whiring or hoovering sound of an engine. After staring almost motionless for 3 hours, I decided to post on facebook about what I saw. No more than five minutes later, another friend of mine messaged me and drove over to the property we were at. At 4am he arrived at the house and the floating light orb was still there, bright as can be. As dawn came, you could see this bright light in the morning sky, all the other stars were gone but this light was so visible. He could he the engine noise as well. Next time I looked away, it was just gone. It was about 5am when it finally left.
